The Comics Journal (TCJ) is a magazine of news and opinions on comic books, comic strips, and graphic novels. The Feb 1999 issue (#210) contained a Top 100 Comics List. TCJ has a reputation for harsh reviews of the mainstream comics industry, and the list is conspicuously light with representatives from the dominant superhero genre of the day.
