COMIC JOURNAL'S TOP 100 COMICS OF THE 20TH CENTURY

The Comics Journal (TCJ) is a magazine of news and opinions on comic books, comic strips, and graphic novels. The Feb 1999 issue (#210) contained a Top 100 Comics List. TCJ has a reputation for harsh reviews of the mainstream comics industry, and the list is conspicuously light with representatives from the dominant superhero genre of the day. Other controversies surrounding the list include the ad hoc criteria, the impartiality, and the notably-absent Cerebus from Dave Sim.
