BATTLEBOOKS is an interactive game based on specifically designed comic books and a pair of cards bound into them. The game began exclusively with characters from the Marvel Universe but expanded slightly to other publishers. Game play is based on the Lost Worlds system (1983). It is a 2-player game that takes approximately 10 minutes and has a fairly low complexity rating. The dominant gameplay mechanism is Simultaneous Action Selection. Players keep their character maneuver card and exchange their booklets. Maneuvers are simultaneously selected and the matrixes in the booklets determine the outcomes of each exchange until a winner is determined. The full-page pin-ups in the comic books depict the action for the players.
