IDW has constructed a shared universe with the Hasbro properties it has licensed. IDW began publishing Transformers comics in 2005 and G.I. Joe comics in 2008, but--aside from any sporadic crossovers--they existed in separate 'universes.' The 2016 crossover event, REVOLUTION, officially set Transformers and G.I. Joe into a shared IDW Hasbro Universe, retroactively incorporating IDW's publishing history back to 2005. (However, any series built on continuities existing prior to IDW's licensing period, such as Marvel's G.I. Joe, A REAL AMERICAN HERO are not technically part of the new shared universe.) The Micronauts, Rom, Action Man and M.A.S.K. were integrated into the shared universe shortly after REVOLUTION. Visionaries appeared in the IDW Hasbro Universe after 2017's FIRST STRIKE event series. Other Hasbro licensed brands also apparently exist in the shared universe: Jem and the Holograms, Clue and Army Ants. However, these properties didn't crossover during REVOLUTION or FIRST STRIKE due to compatibility and tone. Other IDW licensed properties such as: My Little Pony, Dungeons and Dragons and Magic: The Gathering exist outside the IDW Hasbro Universe altogether.
