FUTURAMA is an animated comedy/science fiction series from SIMPSONS creator Matt Groening that aired from 1999-2003 and 2009-2013 in seven seasons and several specials. Reruns ran on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim from 2003-2007. After Fox canceled the series in 2003, Comedy Central later picked it up and continued the series for two more seasons. The main cast of colorful characters includes the pizza delivery guy who fell into a cryogenic pod and woke up 1000 years in the future, a one-eyed starship captain, a foul-mouthed robot, and a mad scientist. FUTURAMA has been nominated for many awards and won several, including 6 Emmy Awards. The franchise expanded beyond television with video games, merchandise and comic books.
