STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION was a long-running science fiction television series which ran from 1987-1994 and was an extension of the original series set 99 years into the future in the 24th Century, featuring prominently Captain Jean-Luc Picard as the captain of the Enterprise (the fifth ship to bear the name, NCC-1701-D). This time period of the Star Trek franchise has been well-explored in spin-off television series, feature films, novels, video games and comic books.
