DELL 'MOVIE CLASSICS' ALTERNATE TITLE

Dell published comics from 1929-1974 and was arguably one of the largest publishers of its day with a peak in the 1950's. From 1956-1969, Dell published a series of MOVIE CLASSICS stand-alone issues associated with licensed movie properties. In general, these comics do not bear the series title, MOVIE CLASSICS, on the cover and are instead predominantly identified with the cover title of the character or property and some portion of the production number as the issue number. Dell's FOUR COLOR anthology series is another series mostly identified by the issue titles/numbers instead of its series title and also contained movie-related characters and properties. A third Dell anthology series, WALT DISNEY SHOWCASE, also published movie-related characters, but the covers of this series all bear WALT DISNEY SHOWCASE in some fashion.
