The FALL OF THE MUTANTS was a crossover event storyline from 1988 spanning three issues each of UNCANNY X-MEN, X-FACTOR, and NEW MUTANTS. Unlike a typical crossover event storyline, the plots of the three series were not intertwined, but followed the event's overall storyline in parallel. Several issues from other series were billed as tie-in issues, including: CAPTAIN AMERICA #339, DAREDEVIL #248-249, 252, POWER PACK #35, FANTASTIC FOUR #312, and HULK #340. Although not all of these issues were labeled on their cover as a tie-in. The storyline is perhaps best known for it revelation that the presumed dead X-Men team member Angel had been remade as one of Apocalypse's horsemen with new razor sharp, metal wings.
