Brash young surgeon Dr. Stephen Strange is on a collision course with destiny--a journey that will force him to search the deepest corners of his own heart...and the outer reaches of the cosmos. A bold re-telling of the origin of Dr. Strange. In the mountains of Tibet, medical student Stephen Strange volunteers to lend medical assistance to poor natives as part of his training. One patient in particular, Wong, although mute since watching his parents' brutal murder, seems to take a liking to Strange. He's drawn by the young man's compassion for the less fortunate. Stephen seems on the verge of some sort of spiritual self-discovery, made manifest by a last-minute trip up the mountainside where he meets the man he would later come to know as The Ancient One. But before Stephen can make it to the top of the mountain, he's drawn back to the United States, all the while vowing to his teacher Doctor Milius, Wong and the rest of the grateful villagers that he'll return. But once he returns to the U.S. and medical school, Stephen quickly forgets his promise and amid the glamor of being a doctor, gives in to the lure of big money. Soon after graduating, Stephen is reminded of his broken promise by Dr. Milius who thereafter dies in a terrible car accident. Nonplused, Stephen takes up the career of a plastic surgeon to the nation's elite rich and seemingly gives up on his mission to help the downtrodden. But while on a vacation in the Swiss Alps, a skiing accident brings the high-flying physician down to Earth with a near-deadly crash. Will Strange now be able to see the light that once illuminated his path?
