CHAPTER TWO: THE CHANGING. Aboard a Republic exploration starship, crewmember Zor discovers life, slugs and plants of high energy, on the fifth planet of the Tzuptum star system. The Invid Regiss contacts him telepathically, mistaking him for the Bringer of Life, and they exchange information, giving the Invid a cultrual template of science to build upon and giving Zor the secrets of the Flower of Life.
