Spider-Gwen is the Spider-Woman of Earth-65, an alternate Marvel Universe where Gwen Stacey--not Peter Parker--was the one bitten by the radioactive spider and imbued with the abilities and proportionate strength of a spider. Spider-Gwen originated out of the SPIDER-VERSE storyline from 2014-15, and was so popular among the many alternate incarnations of that storyline, she earned her own self-titled series. The series was relaunched early on at a new #1 on the back side of the SECRET WARS storyline in late 2015 during Marvel's publishing-wide rebranding and continued to its end at issue #34, when Spider-Gwen's future publishing status was undetermined. However, Spider-Gwen got a new life with a new name, Ghost-Spider, and the 2018 event, SPIDER-GEDDON, which is a follow-on event to the original SPIDER-VERSE storyline. Spider-Gwen appears alongside Miles Morales and Peter Parker in the 2018 animated film, SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE.
Compilations
In modern comic publishing, it's common (and expected) for individual comic book issues to be collected into compilations of trade paperbacks and/or hardcovers, as well as other special compilations. 1st Appearance
The first appearance of a character in comic book form is often the most valuable issue featuring that character. It's a nice place to get started in Spider-Gwen, if it's within your budget.

Origin Story
The original presentation of an origin story or a retelling/recounting of it can be a good place to get started with a character or subject. Spider-Gwen exists in an alternate universe. Her first appearance established the basic facts about her origin, but the ongoing series continues to explore the similarities and differences with the familiar Spider-Man origin, and, as such, is difficult to encapsulate.
