ERRAND BOYS [2018] #1

This new mini-series from Image looks like a fun ride. “In the future, if you can’t find a decent job, you run errands-the dangerous, often illegal kind. 30-year-old Jace Lopaz is a hard-worn scoundrel and a lifelong solo act-until he’s saddled with his 13-year-old half-brother Tawnk full-time. Now Jace has two mouths to feed while evading the law, running from aliens, and jumping off skyscrapers. The only thing weirder than the vastness of space is family.” Buy It Now

ARCHIE [2018] #699

Lest we forget that ARCHIE has been in continuous publication since 1942, ARCHIE returns to legacy numbering just before the landmark #700 issue next month. Nick Spencer is taking over, and he promises it’s not a reboot, but rather more unexplored conflicts and teen drama. If you like the Riverdale show, you should be reading the comic too! “Follow along as Archie reflects back on the past several years of storylines including: the much-talked about #LipstickIncident, the arrival of the Lodge family, the Riverdale Civil War, the machinations of the Blossom Twins, the near-tragedy of ‘Over the Edge’ and more. This special issue sets the stage for next month’s landmark 700th issue of ARCHIE. Based on stories by Mark Waid […]

SHATTERSTAR [2018] #1

He’s not a man you want to cross or you’ll learn that fact all too well. Walk back into the darkness with Shatterstar. Rated T+.” Buy It Now Related shopping tags: X-MEN FAMILY TITLES

OLD LADY HARLEY [2018] #1

A little DC mini-series with a crazy, future version of the DC Universe. “After liberating New York City from her now-feral Gang of Harleys, poor Harley wants nothing more than to slip back into retirement in her coastal (and heavily guarded) paradise. But the Laughing Boys Gang has another idea-they’ll follow her to the ends of the Earth, to drag her back to their leader. It can’t actually be…him. Right? He couldn’t possibly still be alive, could he? After all…Harley killed him herself with her bare hands. Should she turn to President Power Girl for help? Or flee to the 51st state, Atlantis? Step into an insane vision of a future DC Universe we all better hope we don’t live […]

DEAD RABBIT [2018] #1

This is a very cool-looking new series from Image and Gerry Duggan. “Back in the ’90s, DEAD RABBIT was a prolific Boston stick-up man and hoodlum, until he took down one last big score and disappeared. Nobody ever discovered the truth: he retired to be with the love of his life. Now he’s back in the mask to save her, but no one-not his wife, the mafia, or the cops-is happy that he’s out of retirement. From JOHN McCREA, the artist and co-creator of MYTHIC and Hitman, and GERRY DUGGAN, the writer of ANALOG and Deadpool, comes the action-comedy-drama tale of Martin Dobbs, a.k.a. DEAD RABBIT, the man who says he’s descended from one of the original gangs of New […]

PUNCHLINE [2018] #1

I don’t know what exactly it is about this new series from Antarctic Press, but it’s got a slick look and a simple premise. It could be a solid read with some gorgeous art, and that’s all you’d ever need in a great comic book. “Mel was a cloaked super-powered representative of a superhuman group entrusted with protecting all Mankind. After being forced to retire, Mel meets Jessie, who agrees to take her place as a costumed heroine. Mel becomes a mentor to the new cape in town as Jessie joyously engages the role of heroine, meeting the other super-types in the big city of Seaholm and beyond.” Buy It Now

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA [2018] #0

Wait! Wha? There was another fleet? I love John Jackson Miller’s Star Wars novels, so this new Battlestar Galactica mini-series will be outstanding! I love this retro-Marvel-esque cover too! “Commander Adama and the remnants of humanity discover a second fugitive fleet, fleeing a different mortal enemy. Can the two armadas join forces, making common cause against the dreaded Cylons? And what would success mean for the quest for Earth? New York Times bestselling author and comics writer JOHN JACKSON MILLER (Star Wars, Star Trek, Halo) joins Dynamite for a miniseries timed for Battlestar Galactica’s 40th anniversary year.” Buy It Now Related shopping tags: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA

Well, well. The Marvel Cinematic Universe inspires a solo series for the Black Panther’s younger sister…Shuri! Fans of the movie will surely love this series. “FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE BLACK PANTHER. The world fell in love with her in the movie. The Black Panther has disappeared, lost on a mission in space. And in his absence, everyone’s looking at the next in line for the throne. HEX WIVES [2018] #1

An intriguing, new DC Vertigo series about witches and their ages-old war against the all-male Architects. “‘The women are too powerful. They must be tamed.’ For hundreds of years a war has been waged between a coven of perpetually reincarnating witches and the all-male conspiracy known as the Architects. After the death of the lead Architect in 2005 it seemed the witches had finally defeated their foes. Now, 13 years later, waking up in a perfect cookie cutter home at the end of a cul-de-sac in a sunny corner of suburbia, Isadora has no recollection of her past life as the leader of a witch coven, nor her soulmate Nadiya, let alone the centuries-old war she has waged in defense […]
