WELCOME
Hello, comic fans! Last month I was excited to see where Netflix’s Iron Fist season 3 would go. Well, it’s unexpectedly canceled, so I will get no more martial arts mayhem from that show. But Daredevil season 3 is on deck for the end of this month, so I’ll be busy binging that when it comes out! In other news, IDW has launched a line of Marvel comics targeted at the all-ages niche that they’re so good at. I think it’s interesting and wise that Marvel is outsourcing these projects and concentrating on what they do best. Not a month goes by without something new and cool to look forward to in comics. Here’s a short list of some the most buzz-worthy, new comic series from this month’s catalog: PRODIGY (Mark Millar), BATMAN WHO LAUGHS (Dark Multiverse Joker), MARVEL ACTION AVENGERS (IDW all-ages), X-FORCE (’nuff said), SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN (Otto Octavius), MILES MORALES: SPIDER-MAN, and STAR WARS: AGE OF REPUBLIC. As always, let us know if there is something we can track down for you…we try to cater to regular, normal newbies…crazy, intense collectors…and everyone in between (except for Carlton Drake, because his ‘Life Foundation’ is a misnomer) –Glenn

FIRST IMPRESSIONS FOR OCTOBER 2018
Miles Morales: Spider-Man [2019] #1
Miles Morales gets his own ongoing Spider-Man series…again. Can’t wait to see where this character goes next!
“Balancing his normal life, school, parents, etc…and super-heroing has never been easy, but when the Rhino and a cadre of mysterious criminals start plaguing Brooklyn, things take a dark turn. And Miles doesn’t even know the half of it yet. Eisner Award-winner Saladin Ahmed (BLACK BOLT) and Young Gun Javier Garrón (ANT-MAN and THE WASP) bring you the latest incarnation of the coolest character in the Marvel Universe.”
Star Wars: Age Of Republic–Darth Maul #1
Here’s a cool ‘series’ for die-hard Star Wars fans. This is a series of one-shots featuring four different heroes and four different villains from the three different trilogy eras. I don’t have any reason to believe the stories are tied together like Dark Horse did with their VECTOR storyline a while back (now Legends). But these should be seriously cool anyway.
“RISE OF THE SITH. A living weapon of rage and bloodthirst, DARTH MAUL has stayed in the shadows of CORUSCANT waiting for his chance to strike against the JEDI ORDER. However, since tasting his first blood, the SITH lord struggles to contain his desire for destruction and questions the wishes of his methodically plotting master. Could Maul have had another path in life, or was he always fated to follow a dark road? Guest-starring DARTH SIDIOUS.”
Batman Who Laughs #1
This is not a complete surprise. I’m sure the METAL villains will resurface periodically, now that they’ve been created.
“Left rattled by the events of DARK NIGHTS: METAL, Bruce Wayne must come face to face with the nightmares spawned from the Dark Multiverse. But even though evil devoured evil in the collapse of Challengers Mountain, the Dark Knight still has his doubts. He discovers that the Batman Who Laughs not only survived the fight with The Joker at the end of METAL, but now he is enacting a sinister plan across the Multiverse-something both terrifying and oddly familiar. But when Bruce Wayne realizes the only way to stop this madman is to kill him, he must consider violating the very rule Batman won’t break…the same rule that created this insatiable villain-the Batman Who Laughs.”
