This looks like a fascinating story…Lord of the Flies on a college campus. “After a pandemic strikes, a dorm complex at a small American college is quarantined with all of the students trapped within. What first starts out as youthful freedom from authority soon devolves into a violent new society-it’s Lord of the Flies on a college campus. From writer Clay McLeod Chapman (Spider-Verse, Ultimate Spider-Man, American Vampire, Vertigo Quarterly), whose most recent play, ‘Stump Speeches,’ was a New York Times Critics’ Pick; and introducing artist Jey Levang.”

This looks like a cool sci-fi epic. The writer, Van Jensen, has previous credits on Green Lantern Corps and The Flash, so even though it’s a smaller publisher, I expect it has more potential than usual. “The alien warrior called Pharos came to our world to deliver a warning: The Borealis are coming. Hmmm, yeah, I’d read this story about four superhumans created to fight giant creatures which have emerged from the San Andreas Fault. “The San Andreas Fault finally has ‘the Big One,’ but not from natural occurrences. Something of myth and legend that was mentioned in hushed tone by every ancient culture – giants, huge creatures from another time, awakened from the slumber and seeking to resume their conquest that has been delayed for a millennium. Sweet, I’m always up for some martial arts mayhem. Especially if it involves the last living descendant of a secret sect, because you know those kinds of sects usually have the best Kung Fu. “A kung-fu epic set in the back alleys and subway tunnels of Harlem, New York. Holy what the now?!? This new one from Image looks very interesting. At first glance it reminds me of David Brin’s Uplift universe, which he created in his series of novels from the 80’s and 90’s. In general, the Uplift universe is a more cheery sort of science fiction than the deluge of dystopian apocalypses we’ve been getting recently. The universe is still a dangerous place, for sure, but humanity is trying to rise above, not just get along by whatever means are necessary. “WINGED MONKEYS. TECHNO-DOLPHINS.
