INCREDIBLE HULK [2017] #712 Comic Book Cover

Greg Land is one of my favorite cover artists. This one of the scrawny Amadeus bursting out of the Hulk’s head is pretty sweet. *** NOTE: MARVEL SWAPPED THE COVERS FOR #711 AND #712, SO THIS IS NOW THE COVER FOR #711! *** “RETURN TO PLANET HULK Part 4 The Hulk enters the next stage of barbaric trials known as the Gauntlet… Amadeus must do the unthinkable to save the people of Sakaar… But if the Dark Hulk within him is finally loose, who will save Amadeus from himself? Rated T+” Buy It Now Related shopping tags: GREG LAND (CA), HULK, HULK (AMADEUS CHO), HULK FAMILY TITLES, MARVEL LEGACY (2017)

Wow, another ongoing (?) classic Disney cartoon character title…WALT DISNEY SHOWCASE…with ‘extra-wild adventures and outrageous guest stars!’ “‘The Bad News Bruise Cruise.’ We know Donald’s proud of his sailor suit-but can he singlehandedly sail a luxury liner full of billionaires across the ocean? And if not… why is Uncle Scrooge demanding that he try?” Buy It Now   Related shopping tags: DISNEY, DISNEY, DONALD DUCK

TERRIFICS [2018] #1 Comic Book Cover

Tom Strong! I’ve never been a big fan of the actual stars of this new series, THE TERRIFICS. But, apparently, Mr. Terrific, Metamorpho, Plastic Man and Phantom Girl will be searching the multiverse for Tom Strong. Tom Strong was created by the great Alan Moore for his America’s Best Comics imprint which went over to DC when they acquired Wildstorm. I’d be willing to check this series out to see how DC brings back Tom Strong and his family. “Bound together by fate, united by the spirit of exploration and hope for tomorrow, the Terrifics are bound from the Dark Multiverse of Metal. When Mr. Terrific, Metamorpho, Plastic Man and Phantom Girl find themselves literally bound together by a tragic […]

X-MEN: BLUE ANNUAL [2018] #1

Spinning out of the Venomverse storyline, the ‘Poison X’ storyline starts in this annual issue of X-MEN: BLUE. The expansion of the symbiote ‘universe’ has been hit-and-miss. I’m really hoping this storyline gives the symbiote a righteous place in the galaxy. “THE CROSSOVER BETWEEN VENOM AND X-MEN BLUE STARTS HERE. Spinning out of the events of Venomverse, the Children of the Atom and the Lethal Protector team up to take down an extradimensional threat. This is it, folks, the team-up you’ve been asking for: X-MEN BLUE and VENOM must band together in the cold reaches of space to protect our universe from a threat more diabolical than you can imagine. But will EDDIE BROCK, his faithful SYMBIOTE, MARVEL GIRL, CYCLOPS, […]

WATCHVARK [2018] #1 Comic Book Cover

Dave Sim continues to lampoon comic books in these satirical one-shots. Funny stuff. “Everyone in hell is re-reading Watchmen (yes, ‘again’); first appearance of Dr. Jacobson, Watchvark and OHIP; Watching Men; deconstructing Rorschach. Also reprints online strips from September-October 2016 including the conclusion of Aardvark-Vanaheim Civil War: Cerebus vs. The Renegade Super-Poets; Todd McFarlane’s Grey Hulk; Super-Cerebus and Batvark Team-Up; photoshop Village People tribute bands (C. M. Y. K.); Tex Avery Film Festival; True History of The Graphic Novel session 16; Teena Teen Queen; Third Circle of Hell Memorial Day Rodeo; Senator Cerebus; more Nietzsche; Dante’s Botox injection; FONDOO.; re-imagining The Lizard and more.” Buy It Now

RISE OF THE BLACK PANTHER [2018] #1

Nice. The secret origin of the Black Panther. I’m eager to see the MCU movie! “SECRET ORIGIN OF THE BLACK PANTHER Part 1 Just in time for the highly anticipated film, witness the early years of the man who will come to rule one of the most scientifically advanced countries in the world. Wakanda has always kept itself isolated from Western society, but that’s all about to change. Young T’Challa knows he is destined to become king, but when his father is brutally murdered by outsiders, he’ll find himself taking up a mantle he may not be ready for. Experience never-before-seen drama from the reign of T’Chaka, the king whose death changes a nation’s history forever. Learn about the mother […]

STAR WARS ADVENTURES: FORCES OF DESTINY--PRINCESS LEIA [2018]

Sweet! There’s a whole slew of STAR WARS ADVENTURES one-shots marked with the ‘Forces of Destiny’ banner and offered for pre-order this month. ‘Forces of Destiny’ is Disney’s attempt to create a ‘sub-brand’ within the greater Star Wars brand (akin to how the ‘Disney Princess’ brand exists within the greater Disney brand). These are all inspiring stories of female Star Wars characters aimed at a younger audience. “The Star Wars Forces of Destiny initiative celebrates the inspiring stories of iconic heroes from a galaxy far, far away…. Star Wars Adventures has joined the festivities with an exciting weekly series of comic books that explores all corners of the Star Wars universe, showing how choices both big and small ultimately shape […]

HUNGRY GHOSTS [2018] #1 Comic Book Cover

Japanese-inspired ghost stories spun around a common thread of food. Looks delicious! This mini-series kicks off Dark Horse’s new imprint, Berger Books. Karen Berger is best known for her integral role in creating DC’s Vertigo imprint back in 1993. She was the line’s Executive Editor until 2013. With this new imprint at Dark Horse, she’ll be editing a select, curated line. “On a dark, haunted night, a Russian oligarch dares a circle of international chefs to play the samurai game of 100 Candles-where each storyteller spins a terrifying tale of ghosts, demons and unspeakable beings-and prays to survive the challenge. Inspired by the Japanese Edo period game of Hyakumonogatari Kaidankai, Hungry Ghosts reimagines the classic stories of yokai, yorei, and […]
